Meet the Vice President

 

Kathy Assayag

Kathy Assayag, who was appointed Vice-President on January 10, 2005, reports directly to the President of Concordia University and works closely with the senior administration, academic community and faculties to establish the University’s broad fundraising strategies, design and evaluate alumni programs and launch campaigns to support academic priorities. She also sets the direction for annual giving, gift planning, records management, stewardship, advancement communications and capital campaigns.

Ms. Assayag also serves as President of the Concordia University Foundation. Her responsibilities include working with a volunteer committee and managing investment activities to ensure gifts are protected in perpetuity and invested in an appropriate manner.

Previously, she was General Campaign Director for the Federation Combined Jewish Appeal (CJA). Under her leadership, the Federation CJA annual campaign raised more than $43 million, up from $40 million the previous year. She went on to lead four successful annual campaigns.

Prior to Federation CJA, she spent 12 years at Deutsche Financial Services (formerly ITT Commercial Finances), where she focused on client relationships, corporate lending and risk management.

She is a former Board member of the Caisse Populaire Desjardins de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and currently serves on the Board of Jewish Immigration Services, the Segal Centre for Performing Arts and Agence Ometz, a social-service agency. She volunteers with Centraide du Grand Montréal and lends her advice and guidance to numerous non-profit organizations in Quebec.

She has captured several awards: Professional Excellence, Federation CJA, Exemplary Service Award in Israel and the United Jewish Appeal.

Ms. Assayag has earned a BA—with a major in Humanistic Studies and minor in Economics—from McGill University as well as a certificate from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in Strategic Leadership for Nonprofit Organizations.
